Beekeeping Class for Richmond, Va
The East Richmond Beekeepers Association is offering a course in 2013 for the beginner and novice beekeeper. Instruction and demonstrations focus on what a new beekeeper needs to know in the first few months of beekeeping.
The early months are critical for a new beekeeper as he/she becomes acquainted with their bees. Those months often spell the difference between success and failure.
Although beekeepers with experience in Top Bar Hives will be on hand, the course focuses on the standard langstroth hive setup and management techniques. The instructors believe that a langstroth setup offers the best chance for new beekeeper success (for both the beekeeper and the honey bee!)
