VSBA Fall Meeting


November 3, 2018, Blue Ridge Community College, Weyers Cave, VA.

If you are interested in attending the meeting as a vendor, please complete the vendor application and return to Martha Kiene by 20 Oct to ensure reservation.


This year's fall VSBA meeting is hosted by the Shenandoah Valley Beekeepers Association and will be held at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, VA.

The following presentations will be offered:

  • Dr. Meghan Milbrath will present "Small Scale Queen Rearing" and "Overwintering"
  • Ed Karle will share a "Case Study of 4 hives in 1 apiary followed over 3 years."
  • Slideshow review of EAS 2018

An optional lunch consisting of a hot pork barbecue sandwich, coleslaw, macaroni salad, baked beans, potato chips & a drink is offered by the Shenandoah Valley Beekeepers Association for a nominal fee.

Online registration is available to current VSBA members and expired/non-members. Payment is by credit card. A mail-in registration form is available HERE. Prices are the same for mail-in or online registrations, with a discount for current members. Registration is open through October 22, 2018 with a discount for early registrations through October 16, 2018.

On Saturday, November 3, 2018, Walk-in Registration (payable by cash or check only) will open at 8 AM with the meeting beginning at 9 AM. Presentations and vendors continue until 5:00 PM.

The Meeting Committee has contacted several hotels in the area for group rates:

Country Inn & Suites, 27 Covenant Drive, Harrisonburg, VA, 540-433-2400, has rooms available at the group rate of $89 per night plus tax. Please note that is group rate is available until October 23..Please remember to mention that you are with the Virginia Beekeepers Association.

Directions: I-81, Exit 243, stay straight at light, hotel on left.

Sleep Inn, 222 Jefferson Highway, Staunton, VA 540-887-6500, has rooms available at the group rate of $89.99 per night plus tax. Please note that is group rate is available until October 22. Also, remember to mention that you are with the Virginia Beekeepers Association.

Directions:I-81, Exit 222.At the bottom of the ramp, turn LEFT.The hotel is 1/8 mile on the left.

The VSBA is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting and advancing beekeeping in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Membership in the VSBA is open to beekeepers and non-beekeepers, alike. Annual membership dues are $12.00 per individual/family or $10.00 through local associations. In addition to other benefits, members receive a quarterly newsletter.
