The workshops at the event will provide practical skills for attendees. The microscopy workshop with Dr. James Wilson will give participants an opportunity to use high-powered microscopes to examine bee anatomy and diseases. The honey show prep workshop with EAS Master Beekeepers Karla Eisen and Bob Wellemeyer will provide valuable tips for preparing honey for competition. The apiary workshop with Virginia Master Beekeepers Brooke Savage and Kristine Smith will provide hands-on experience in managing bees.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the pollinator meadows and greenhouse gardens, providing a closer look at the plants that support honey bees and other pollinators. Finally, we are pleased to offer a yoga session, led by a certified instructor, which will provide an opportunity for participants to stretch, relax, and unwind. This session will help beekeepers reduce stress and promote relaxation through breathing techniques and meditation.

The Virginia State Beekeepers Association Spring Meeting at Sweet Briar College on June 10 and 11, 2023, promises to be a fun, educational, and practical event for anyone interested in beekeeping. Come join us and learn from the experts!
