Virginia Queen Bee Throw Down
Two hundred and fifty years ago (250) Virginia was ruled by a monarch. Most Virginians
remember Mad King George III was the last King to rule the Old Dominion. But how many
know Queen Charlotte ruled, passively, alongside him as Virginia’s last queen? Others have
visited but only a few ruled over the colony. During the nation’s semiquincentennial its once
again time Virginia recognized not just a queen but the queen of queens in the Commonwealth.
