We’re excited to introduce the newly seated Board of Directors for the Virginia State Beekeepers Association. This dedicated group of volunteers brings a wealth of experience, fresh ideas, and a deep commitment to supporting Virginia’s beekeepers, honey bees, and pollinators across the Commonwealth.

PresidentšŸ Kristine Smith Providing statewide leadership with a focus on education, outreach, and strengthening the future of beekeeping in Virginia.


1st Vice PresidentšŸ Gregory Gonzales Supporting programs, partnerships, and member engagement across the association.


2nd Vice PresidentšŸ Alex Gochenour Focused on regional representation, growth, and building strong connections between local clubs and VSBA.


SecretaryšŸ Kandyce Sherman Volk Keeping VSBA organized, transparent, and running smoothly behind the scenes.


TreasureršŸ Scott Poling Overseeing the financial health of the association to ensure responsible stewardship and long-term sustainability.


Past PresidentšŸ William Gartner Providing continuity, guidance, and institutional knowledge to support the board’s work.


Together, this board is committed to expanding education, strengthening community connections, supporting research and advocacy, and creating meaningful opportunities for beekeepers at every level—from backyard beginners to commercial operations.
